How do I switch the tablet on?
To turn the tablet on or off, lightly touch the button marked with a red sticker. The screen should be displayed. See page 4 of the user guide.
Can I break the tablet?
You can physically damage the tablet if you drop it from a height etc. However, you are very unlikely to damage the tablet or systems through usage. We can retrieve things from almost any situation! If concerned call the office (09:00-16:30 Mon-Fri).
How do I charge the tablet and how often?
Refer to page 38 of the user guide, here you will see the symbols in the top right corner of your screen explained. If the ‘battery’ symbol is 20% or less, we would suggest you charge your tablet.
Do this by plugging your charger into the socket marked with a yellow sticker on the tablet and attaching the charger to the mains socket. This will not take too long (a few hours) and the ‘battery’ symbol will show 100% when completed.
How do I charge the wristband and how often?
The wristband indicates its charge level and you can also see it on the ‘Walking/todays activity’ page in the bottom left hand corner. When the indication is 20% or lower, it’s time for a charge.
Do this by removing the device from its strap and place the device into the ‘U’ shaped charging lead. Be careful to insert it the correct way around (two little gold connections in first), otherwise it will not charge.
Do I need to clean the tablet?
The tablet should not get too dirty in normal use, however, as it is a touchscreen device and our fingers (no matter how clean) deposit small amounts of oil as we touch things; you will notice fingerprints on the screen and a certain amount of dust after a while.
If you wear glasses or are a keen photographer, use your standard lens cleaning cloth to remove these deposits. Otherwise, use a soft (microfiber cloths are good) clean duster, gauze or lens wipe. You should not need to do this often. DO NOT use any sort of cleaning agent, soap, washing up liquid, glass cleaner, etc. these can be abrasive and cause problems with the clarity of the display.
The bookmarks don’t seem to do anything?
This could be a problem with your broad band signal. Refer to page 38 of the user guide, here you will see the symbols in the top right corner of your screen explained. Ensure that the broadband/WiFi indicator is displayed correctly at the top of the screen.
If it is not the first thing to do is to turn off the tablet and turn it on again. This often resolves many issues. If this does not change the situation, please call the office (9:00-16:30 Mon-Fri).
Can I change the games/bookmarks/exercises I see on the tablet?
Yes, these can be modified by your chosen carer or the office.
How do I receive photos?
Anyone can send you a photo. They must use your email address shown on the photos page and send their photo as an ‘attachment’ to their email. You can then see it and send a reply to the sender.
I’ve got really stuck, how do I get back to the start?
Refer to page 5 of the user guide. Here you will see the circle at the bottom of the screen indicated. This is the ‘home’ button and pressing this will always take you back to the start screen. This could be the MiCare ‘petals’ or the tablets own screen, depending on how it has been set up. You can also try to turn off the tablet and turn it on again. This often resolves many issues. If this does not change the situation, please call the office (09:00-16:30 Mon-Fri).
How do I contact someone to get help?
You can chat things over with your chosen carer and/or contact the office during working hours (09:00-16:30,) on Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays). We will always be happy to help you with your concerns about the tablet, 01962 601247.
